General Nursing Career

General nursing career relates to diploma nursing education consisting of Auxiliary Nursing & Midwifery and General Nursing & Midwifery. It is a Certificate level degree in Nursing Category. A student applies for an undergraduate Nursing degree after Diploma Nursing Education. ANM nursing is a diploma course of 2 years duration. Basically, ANM course is taken up in India by grass-root level female health workers. The course aims to train the students to work in rural healthcare setup with major focus on women, children and old people. ANM nursing students can work in the community healthcare setting both in rural as well as urban sector. While on the other hand, General Nursing and Midwifery is a course studied under the certified diploma degree. This course is taught for three years with an additional six months of internship. This program offers foundation education and nursing practice for all the students.This course is taken up so that the students may develop their knowledge of general health and move to the specific area of their choice like pharmacology, child care, pediatrics, orthopedics, nutrition and emergency nursing.

Auxiliary Nursing & Midwifery(ANM)

The nurses who have done ANM are responsible for providing the necessary care to the area the person is in charge of in a safe and effectual way.

General Nursing & Midwifery(GNM)

General Nursing and Midwifery is a course studied under the certified diploma degree. This course is taught for three years with an additional six months of internship. This program offers foundation education and nursing practice for all the students. After the course completion, the nurses can be able to work in different health care firms where their qualification is accepted. As the General Nursing and Midwifery graduates complete the course, they are placed as in charge of taking care of women during their pregnancy and the post pregnancy period. It is one of the specialized areas of nursing education.

B.Sc in Nursing

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing is a professional course of four years duration. The main target of this course is to produce qualified nurses by providing advanced and broad research-based nursing education. This degree level study enhances the skills and critical analysis power of students that make them capable of being a professional practitioner in the nursing field. After the completion of this course, the nurses will be acquainted with all the responsibilities of a competent nurses and midwives. Post Basic B.Sc in Nursing

Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing falls under the undergraduate course which is taken equal as B.Sc. Nursing Course. The course duration is of two full years. This course can be taken up if a candidate has completed General Nursing and Midwifery. The basic requirement to take this course is to expand the knowledge and skills after General Nursing and Midwifery course. The most advantageous thing about a student taking this course is s/he does not have to go through any year of work experience and are directly eligible to take the M.Sc. nursing course. The Post B.Sc. nurses are equally given chances to work in many hospitals in the level where the B.Sc. Nursing graduates work.
